Enjoy a typical Scottish dinner and traditional folk music with our colleagues at Folk and Haggis!

Folk and Haggis is a unique experience in the heart of Edinburgh. It offers an experience that immerses all participants in the rich Scottish culture in all its aspects.

The reception begins with the moving sound of a Scottish bagpiper, accompanied by a photocall to capture unforgettable moments.
Guests are then led to the dining room, where two courses and a dessert await them.
During dinner, two musicians guide the audience on a fascinating journey through Scottish folk music, from melodic ballads to lively traditional songs, explaining the stories that accompany them.
To close the evening, a whisky expert gives a short talk with interesting facts before the final whisky toast.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Welcome with bagpiper and photocall.
  • Chance to try the national dish, Scottish Neeps and Tatties.
  • History of Scottish music from the best folk musicians in the capital.
  • Tasting of two varieties of Scotch whiskey.

MENU

STARTERS

  • Scotch broth (vegan): Scotch Broth is a classic Scottish soup that has warmed Scottish homes for generations. It is made with fresh seasonal vegetables, barley and hearty pulses, and served with homemade bread, perfect for soaking up every bit of its rich flavour.
  • Cullen Skink: Creamy soup with smoked haddock from the North Sea (similar to cod), leek, potatoes and a touch of cream.

MAIN COURSES

  • Haggis, neeps ‘n’ tatties (vegan and vegetarian options available): One of the local culinary icons. The dish consists of haggis – a savoury pudding made from minced sheep’s heart, liver and lungs, mixed with oatmeal, onions and spices – accompanied by turnips (neeps) and mashed potatoes (tatties).
  • Salmon: Scottish salmon fillet, new potatoes, and sautéed vegetables with a white wine and dill sauce.
  • Fish ‘n’ chips: Local hake fillet, battered, fried and served with chips, peas and homemade tartar sauce.
  • Shepherd’s Pie (vegan): Originally from the 19th century, famous for feeding shepherds for countless generations. Today, the vegan version of this dish retains the essence of the original, using lentils, peas and carrots as a base. Mashed potatoes and fresh salad continue to form the iconic garnish, offering a comforting and flavourful combination.

DESSERTS

  • Sticky Toffee Pudding: A classic British dessert made from moist sponge cake, enriched with finely chopped dates for natural sweetness. It is bathed in a rich toffee sauce and traditionally served warm with vanilla ice cream.
  • Chocolate Brownie (vegan): Made with high-quality cocoa and melted chocolate chips, it is the perfect balance between sweet and bitter. Served with delicious plant-based cream and berries.

*The menu includes an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.
